Unreal

Alexander Brandon with Michiel Van Den Bos planned and worked out a dynamic music system for this legendary PC action adventure first person shooter. To this day the fanbase for the music insists it was a unique style to game scores that had not been heard before and hasn’t been heard since.

This project was one of the most fun to work on, even though most of the team was remote during its development. It was cutting edge. Nothing like it had been done. It went head to head with the likes of Quake, and for atmosphere and a cool environment nothing came close for a realtime 3d game. The music grew out of inspiration by fantasy artists Roger Dean and Rodney Matthews, and like the rest of the game, became pretty unique. Quake was more action oriented, and we were given a wider palette. Which resonated with many players; particularly with the way the score changed depending on the action.
